WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BODY THE HOUR AFTER DRINKING A COKE?

10 MINUTES
10 teaspoons of SUGAR hit your system. This is 100 percent of your recommended daily intake, and the only reason you don’t VOMIT as a result of the overwhelming sweetness is because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor.

20 MINUTES
Your blood sugar spikes, and your liver responds to the resulting insulin burst by turning massive amounts of sugar into FAT.

40 MINUTES
Caffeine absorption is complete; your pupils dilate, your blood pressure RISES, and your liver dumps MORE sugar into your bloodstream.

45 MINUTES
Your body increases dopamine production, which stimulates the pleasure centers of your brain – a physically identical response to that of HEROIN by the way.

60 MINUTES
You’ll start to have a sugar crash. Enjoy.

AND HERE ARE SOME OTHER SHOCKING FACTS FOR YOU . . .

ONE SODA PER DAY INCREASES YOUR RISK OF DIABETES BY 85%!

SUGAR IS ACTUALLY MORE ADDICTIVE THAN COCAINE!

JUST ONE EXTRA CAN OF SODA PER DAY CAN ADD AS MUCH AS 15 POUNDS TO YOUR WEIGHT OVER THE COURSE OF A SINGLE YEAR! (NOT HOW TO LOOK BETTER NAKED!)

IF YOU ARE STILL DRINKING SODA, STOPPING THE HABIT IS AN EASY WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH.
WATER IS A MUCH BETTER CHOICE, OR IF YOU MUST DRINK A CARBONATED BEVERAGE, TRY SPARKLING MINERAL WATER WITH A SQUIRT OF LIME OR LEMON JUICE.

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON THAT YOUR KIDS SHOULD EVER DRINK SODA. NONE, NADA, ZIP, ZERO.
NO EXCUSES. DON’T BE IRRESPONSIBLE!

THE ELIMINATION OF SOFT DRINKS IS A COMPLETE NO-BRAINER!

SO CUT THE SODA AND LOOK BETTER NAKED!

  1. Not to mention much of the ‘fake’ sugar in processed drinks and foods come from genetically modified corn (high fructose corn syrup) and beets (beet sugar)….another compounding health problem!

  2. I drink 8 cans of soda a day. Have been drinking same amount for 15 years. I am 6′ tall and weigh 176 lb. The sugar in the soda is not turning into fat. Plain and simple. If your body is not used to sugar intake then yes sure but let’s be real how many skinny people drink a lot more than one can of soda a day. And I’m not diabetic or hypoglycemic. Along with a lot of other people out there. I also know large people who eat healthy and don’t drink soda at all. But hay in today’s world we aren’t supposed to drink any of the water or breath any of the air. Oh wait I’ll die if listen to them

  3. Good grief. Everyone’s condradicting everyone. Hilarious! Just read the article, do your own research then make the most informed decision you feel is best for you. The name calling is crazy stuff over what, an opinion.

  4. It’s just pop yeah it’s bad for you but I think people make it a big deal for nothing. Everything we eat and drink is bad one moment there telling you it’s good then a day later they find a reason to say it’s bad. You only live once. Stop worrying about health and stuff and live a little. Just my opinion but I have respect for others.

  5. No citations = anecdotal data

Why do people believe data on face value?

Because the author words the article such that it will cite unrest, or so they hope.

  6. I know I need to quit, but have been drinking 4 – 6 diet cokes most days since i was a teenager and am now 48. I do not have any medical issues. I think some people are more prone to health issues that others.

  7. I’ve been using honey as my only sweetener for over a year. I used to love Pepsi, when I was working overtime on weekends, would drink one after another, and eat Hershey kisses. Went downhill until I couldn’t work! Finally diagnosed celiac. Would rather be on the SCD diet, though it’s very restrictive, and be able to work. Eating fruit in moderation is very good for you with vitamins and minerals. All soft drinks or almost all juice is high in sugar, and are not allowed on my diet. Only juice with no sugar or artificial sweetener, then I add honey if I need to.

  8. where do people get their facts from? do they just make them up on here? lol eg fructose IS in fruit; fructose actually means “fruit sugar”. So you should limit the amount of fruit you eat whole, and you certainly should NOT be juicing fruit and drinking fruit juice if you want to reduce your sugar intake.

  11. Good grief, half of these comments are from pretentious pricks. Calling people names for asking questions. You want to know why more people don’t recognize the evils of soda? Why don’t you go call them idiots and find out. I’d drink soda just to spite half the people in these comments. Right after I punched them. People are so uppity and condescending these days it’s ridiculous. Well feel better about yourselves!!! 🙂

  12. High fructose corn syrup is processed with Mercury, and according to the FDA, 30% of foods that use HFCS still have Mercury in them. You all should read the studies on HFCS done by Princeton University and others. HFCS is not sugar.

  13. “SUGAR IS ACTUALLY MORE ADDICTIVE THAN COCAINE!”

“IF YOU ARE STILL DRINKING SODA, STOPPING THE HABIT IS AN EASY WAY TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH.”

Doesn’t sound very easy at all even if you did mean it in more of a “shortcut diet” sort of way.

  15. I love all the experts on these comments. Simple solution if you don’t like it don’t drink it. If you don’t want to smoke, don’t. As a college athlete I drink two maybe three pops a day normally and a couple cups of coffee. I still run 5:30 miles and I’m pretty damn healthy. I also drink lots of liqour and smoke the occasional cigar as I eat pizza and junk food. Yes everyone is made different and gaining weight is easier for some then others but… its up to you what you put in your mouth. Its also up to you how you take care if yourself. This is so spun up, such as the dopamine part. Dopamine is released for pleasure, so when you see someone you love, get excited, or have sex dopamine is released. This probablly means nothing to the commenters seeing as most apparently can’t be happy. So go on, make my day and tell me how I’m a dumbass.

  16. Sugar in Coke is a processed kind of sugar. The sugar in all natural, organic orange juice is a natural sugar. However, processed, terrible orange juice has the same sugar as in Coke. If you squeeze your oranges fresh, you are only consuming natural sugars and all the nice vitamins that come with it. Any added sugars at all are the same as in Coke. Fresh orange juice is okay in moderation.

  18. Sugar is more addictive than cocaine? God, I laugh every time I hear this. I’ve put plenty of sugar in my system. I’ve had (lots) of cocaine up my nose. There is no comparison. Not only do you cheapen the discussion when you bring up lies likes this, but you trivialize the addiction problems of people struggling with cocaine.
And dopamine is dumped into the human body for nearly EVERYTHING that is pleasurable. From eating a healthy meal, to having dirty sex. Dopamine is released for all that, drinking a Coke, getting exercise and more. It has no more to do with heroin than anything else you gain pleasure from.
I find this type of sensationalist writing to do more harm than good. You, my friend, are an amateur.

  19. I enjoyed a cold refreshing can of Coke while reading this. Apparently I have one hour until I have a sugar crash. So my new course of action is to drink 1 can of Coke, every hour for the rest of my life (apparently I’ll develop diabetes sometime along the way) and hope that I am able to avoid that sugar crash. Actually, I am thinking that Coke is too mainstream. I will be drinking Monster Energy Drinks instead. That way I can get more sugar into my fat. When I eventually get eaten by zombies someday, I don’t want them thinking, “Ew. What a nasty tasting diabetic.” I want them to enjoy eating me.

  20. It doesn’t matter. Everyone will be dead from the cancer caused by cell phones that they can’t put down for a minute. It that doesn’t kill them, air pollution and pesticides in their food will get them long before a Coke or two a day kills them. And don’t forget the overuse of unnecessary prescription medications that are over prescribed by doctors. I find it amusing how often Coke is targeted to be poison. Really? I don’t smoke, drink, or use drugs. I drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, and I enjoy a Coke or two. Shoot me.
